Supporting Cotlands charity

Edducate Baner

Founded in 1936 as a non-profit agency with centres around South-Africa, Cotlands has over the years evolved into a shelter for abused, abandoned, HIV-positive, orphaned and terminally ill children from birth to fourteen years of age.

As the AIDS epidemic increases, so does the incidence of households headed up by children. This phenomenon has resulted in numerous social and economic problems, and one very worrying factor is that the older siblings are forced to leave school to care for their younger brothers and sisters. This is likely to lead not only to an orphan generation, but also to an uneducated generation, who will never acquire the skills needed o enter the market place.

Care extends through the whole continuum – from identifying vulnerable children in the community to end stage hospice care for children dying of AIDS.

Creatures is supporting a Cotlands centre in Somerset West (near Cape Town). Every month they send us their wish list and we try to send them at least one thing on their list.

We hope to expand our role and get more involved with Cotlands as our business grows.

Please let us know if you wish to get involved. If you're in South-Africa we can arrange for you to visit a centre.
